What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, also known as subscription farming. It is a grower support model which connects the community to their local growers. By ‘subscribing’ up-front to a full season of local spray-free produce, both the risks and reward of growing food are shared between growers and consumers.

A CSA model helps to address increasing concerns about the lack of transparency, sustainability and resilience of our food system. It is about knowing where your food comes from, who grows it and how it is grown. We form mutually beneficial relationships to support Whanagnui food security and sovereignty.

Benefits

The benefit for us as growers is we receive a more stable and secure income and closer connection with our community. With an up-front seasonal payment, and secured members, we can focus less on marketing and selling the produce, and more time on growing delicious nutritious food, and connecting with like-minded people. The benefits for you are eating fresh healthy local food, feeling more connected to where the food is grown, how it is grown and who grows it.
